Welcome to our website! Please come on in and enjoy visiting with our dogs (and a cat or two!) and be welcome here! We breed very rarely, but are always happily available to refer enquiries to trustworthy breeders, and are pleased to answer your questions at any time. If you are looking for an adult dog, how about considering rescue? These lovely dogs are already grown up and have lots of Sammy smiles left to give a loving family. For more information on rescue, please contact us (Samoyed Rescue of Santa Barbara) at: SamoyedRescue@AltaSamoyeds.com  or our partner, Pyles of Smiles Samoyed Rescue (in northern California at: Shellie@PylesOfSmiles.com or check: Samoyed Rescue Alliance  for information about rescue information & opportunities to help in your area.

Our Mission

To breed healthy, happy, long-lived Samoyeds according to the standard for our breed. To take seriously the stewardship of this ancient and versatile breed of dog.  To remain available to each and every Alta Samoyed throughout his or her lifetime; every Alta dog can always come back home to us if circumstances ever warrant this to be necessary. To never lose sight of the importance of form and function as a whole, never sacrificing one in favor of the other.

A word about:

Samoyed Rescue

If you ever loved a Samoyed and that dog brought even one smile to your face, pay that happiness forward by helping rescue in any way you can.  You can donate to a rescue group in the form of money, blankets, toys, an account at a feed store or veterinarian, or you can foster, groom, transport, help socialize, etc. There are as many ways to help as there are dogs in need.

Our economy is contributing to more homeless pets, as their owners lose their own homes. As a result, we are seeing a sharp increase in owner-surrenders to rescue, meaning more dogs in need of homes. With your help, those animals can find shelter and happy futures.

There are many more rescuers standing ready to help dogs in need than you have been allowed to realize.

Due to an aggressive campaign by two large organizations to keep the public from access to and knowledge of these very capable rescues, dogs have been pushed through the cracks and have sometimes met a poor outcome as a result. When a surrendering owner or shelter is in an area where the nearest listed rescue group is 300 miles or more away, that dog's very life is at risk.

One  large organization uses its membership's resources (despite member's requests to the contrary) to actively solicit monetary donations for only four rescue groups and one very secretive fundraising entity which does no rescue at all.  This fundraising entity has also never been made to divulge what it done with the thousands of dollars it has been given at organization functions and via solicitation of organization membership.

The four rescue groups, already working full steam ahead as all rescue groups are, are expected to cover the entire United States. If a dog in a given area is in need, the only rescue contact that dog's surrendering owner or receiving shelter is given may be hundreds of miles away, despite that there is a longtime, reputable and willing rescuer only 60 miles away.

That often spells trouble for the helpless dog caught in the middle of this unnecessary situation.

Our goal is thus for all rescuers to be given equal listing and thus equal access by the public, regardless of political affiliation or personal connections.

The ONLY truly open source of Samoyed Rescue information can be had by contacting this address:

-------> SamRescue@Samfans.org  <--------

The Rescue Secretary will respond to your information request and will then put you in contact with your CLOSEST Samoyed Rescue entity who will help you. She can also answer your doggy questions and help you with a variety of referrals to information sources.

Additionally, many listings of Samoyed Rescuers can also be found here:

Rescue Secretary and SRA may not be the biggest, glitziest, best-funded, best-advertised rescue information sources on the web, but they are the ONLY complete and all-inclusive ones, and the Rescue Secretary has been serving Samoyed Rescue longer than any other source on the web.  Their resources are directed to the dogs, not to advertising and fancy websites.

Pay a Samoyed Smile forward today and learn more about rescue and how you can help!
